What's this about a "free 45 day trial"?
Q: How do I get the free trial version?
A: Simply click this link to the download
page. Detailed instructions are there.
Q: A free "trial" version... what's the catch?
A: The catch is that the product will stop working after 45 days. This
gives you plenty of time to try it out and decide whether or not it's worth the price. If
you want to keep using it, when you send us the payment we send you an activation code
that "unlocks" the program permanently. Other than the 45 day limit, the product
is fully functional with no restrictions or missing features.
Q: Will I loose all the data I enter during the trial
period?
A: Absolutely not! Everything will be right were you left it.
Q: Why are you offering the product this way? Can I purchase a "real"
product?
A: Distributing the software via our web site is very efficient and cost
effective. Prior to using this web site we had to purchase numerous supplies and duplicate
diskettes, all of which cost time and money and resulted in a price of US $50 for
TroopManager Plus alone. The web version of TroopManager Plus is only US
$30... we passed
those savings on to you. The web site is the only way to get any of our products. We no
longer provide them any other way.

The product says I have ZERO days left in my free trial period.
That's wrong! I still had plenty of days left.
This happens sometimes. The trial period is very sensitive to your computer's clock, as
you can imagine. If the date gets changed backwards for any reason the trial period
automatically expires. If this happens to you, just drop us a line at FSC@tds.net and we'll reset it for you.
Where is information about price and payment options?

Why can't I download the file? It always terminates before
completed.
See the Download
Problems page. When you understand how complex the internet really is, you'll
be amazed anything works at all.

Why does the installation program halt with an error?
This is related to the complexity of internet download, coupled with the complexity of
modern Windows configurations. See the Installation Problems page.

Camping Events versus Scout Camping History
TM+ does not distinguish one type of event from another. Even though you describe an
event as "camping" it will not automatically show up in the scout's camping
history. There's a Camping Event button in the
Event/Trip Planner, Outcomes form to help record the event.

How does Badge/Patch Completion Work?
As you know, not every scout needs to work on every activity to "complete" a
badge or patch. Rather than trying to sense whether or not a scout has met the
requirements, TM+ has a check box labeled Completed for each scout badge.
Simply check the box when you consider the badge to be completed. There's a separate check
box for Presented so you can keep track of badges earned but not yet presented. The
completed check box can be found on the badge/patch progress form, as well as on the scout
history form. Better yet, check out BadgeManager Plus,
which makes everything associated with badges much easier.

How can I change the text of the permission slips?
Permission slips have an upper and lower portion. The upper portion, showing
scout names and event information, cannot be changed. The lower portion, showing
fill-in-the-blank areas for parent permission, is 100% customizable. The text is
changed via the Troop Information screen. Look for a
command button labeled Permission Slip. We get a lot of requests for more
sophisticated permission slip handling. Rest assured, we're working on it.

Why does #Error show up in some of the reports?
The majority of reports in TroopManager Plus are only useful after you have entered
data about your troop, scouts, and their activities (meetings, trips, badges and so on).
Some of the reports will warn you that there is no data to print, while others will
print even though there's no data to report. The latter ones are likely to display
the #Error message, indicating that some required data is missing.
This message does not indicate an error in your data. However, if you
believe that the report should display something, by all means send us a bug report. You
might have come across an honest-to-goodness bug.
