SUManager is designed to eliminate duplicate data entry. You can import data from TroopManager (version 1.x and 2.0), G-ScoutMate 6.x and other SUManager databases. Not all data can be imported. Only a subset of person, troop and organization data can be imported.
Rather than the service unit team entering the same data that troop leaders are also entering, you should encourage your troop leaders to enter data into TroopManager and then send their troop databases to you for import.
The following dialog is displayed from the File-Import menu choice or the Import button on the main switchboard. Start by importing troops, then adults, then scouts. The order is important because that's how SUManager can keep the relationships intact. You do not have to import all records. And, you can make changes to the data before importing it.
Duplicate checking is performed automatically and SUManager will not add names that appear to be exactly the same. You can override this check as needed, though we recommend editing the names to be unique rather than importing duplicates. Apparent duplicate names will have an asterisk ( * ) so it should be clear whether or not you have already imported this information.
Nothing happens to your SUManager database unless and until you click the Import button.
Recognizing that not every troop in your service unit will have the good fortune of using TroopManager, SUManager also supports importing troops, scouts and adults from G-Scoutmate 6.x databases.
SUManager can also import from other SUManager databases, in the event you want to start from scratch with a new database and import troops, people and/or organizations from an existing SUManager database.
