SUManager stores 100% of your data in a single database file.  You can have multiple different database files for different purposes.  For example, you could one database file for current-year activities and another with historical data from prior years.  You could have a third database you are using for experimenting with product features.  Be sure to assign clear and meaningful names to these files and take care that you using the correct one.

The default name is Data.SUMgr though you can use any name that you want.  Be sure to make a backup copy of your databases whenever you've made significant changes.  You will be prompted to perform periodic maintenance on your database file.

The default storage location is the same as where you installed SUManager, though you can save the file anywhere you want. The default installation location is C:\Program Files\Forevergreen.

The File menu is used to manage your database files: creating new, opening existing, making backups, importing and exporting data.

File-Open prompts you to select a database file to open.  The Browse button is used when you know the location of the file.  The Search button is used when you have lost track of your database files.  The search feature will scan all of your drives looking for SUManager database files.  The New button creates a new database and prompts your for the storage location.

The Search button displays a new dialog used to control the search process. Click the Start Searching button. Possible matches are listed. Double-click a file name or click once and then click the Select Database button to open the file.  The Stop button is used to stop the search process.  You can start again or click Cancel at any time to abandon the search entirely.

File-New prompts for a location for a new database file using a standard Windows dialog.  This is the same as clicking the New button in the File-Open dialog.

File-Backup Database displays a dialog used to specify the location for a backup copy of the current database.  See the Database Backup page for details.

Periodic Maintenance

Approximately once per month you will be prompted to perform maintenance on the SUManager database file.  The database maintenance process shrinks the file to reclaim unused space and performs integrity checks to make sure that your data is intact.

If any error messages are displayed during the process please contact us for technical support.  The process is very careful about protecting your data and there is a good chance that your data can be recovered.
