The Configuration form is used to customize SUManager for use with your service unit. Everyone should enter information on the left side of the form.  At minimum you should enter your unit number. You can come back and change any of this information at any time.

  • Include race/disability.  We recognize that not every council and service unit has the same requirements for data collection.  If you do not want to collect race and/or disability information you can exclude these fields from the data entry forms.  Independent of whether or not you collect this information you always have the option of excluding it from reports.
  • Confirm exit.  When first getting started with SUManager you will find that you often close the entire program when you meant to close a single window.  This option controls whether or not you have a chance to cancel the action.

The buttons along the right side of the form will not be used by most service units.

  • Types of... Every list in SUManager is fully customizable and can be extended to include your own entries.  The Types of... buttons are used to edit these lists.  Some of the editors are very easy to use while others are more complicated.  Be careful, changes made in this area will impact the entire product.  Be sure to make a backup copy of your database before making changes.
  • Default Categories.  The default category list can be copied into every new financial account created.  To help keep accounts consistent should edit this master list so each new account starts with the same set.  This is particularly important if you will be exporting data to other SUManager users or to TroopManager users.  For example, a council may want to set up standard categories for all service units.  The service units then distribute a subset of the categories to troops.  All reporting will then be consistent within the council.
  • Optimize Troop Lists.  SUManager does some fancy dynamic formatting of troop names when displayed in on-screen lists and printed reports. For units with a large number of troops and/or running on a slow computer you might notice a delay when forms are displayed.  The Optimize Troop Lists button will speed this process up by removing the dynamic nature of the process.  You will have to periodically click the button to keep troop information up to date.  For example, if you change the troop leader or program level for a troop.
