A sophisticated role management feature is available in SUManager Plus.  Use of this feature is optional but very handy for keeping track of a large number of people that have overlapping responsibilities in your service unit, troops and organizations.

There are several role types for several types of people.  SUManager comes with three built-in role types, to which you can add more roles as needed:

Service Unit
Troop
Organization

SUManager comes with three built-in types of people, to which you can add more types as needed:

Adults
Scouts
Others

Adults and Scouts are used for people that are formally associated with the service unit. The Other type, along with any additional types you might define, are intended for keeping track of people that do not have a formal relationship with your service unit.  For example, school administrators or local business leaders might be routinely consulted or otherwise contacted about SU/troop matters but they aren't really part of the SU or any troop.

Each combination of a type of person and type of role has a list of associated roles. The screen shot below shows the service unit roles for adults. You can add to this list, delete or change the role description.  When you select a role, the people in that role are listed.  Selecting a person shows the troops and/or organizations that person is part of.

Role Qualifications

Roles can have qualifications that are required or at least strongly recommended.  The Edit Role Qualifications button is used to indicate which training, certifications and skills are required or recommended for the role. The Describe button displays the current qualifications.

After you configure role qualifications you can check individuals against the qualifications to see who matches or falls short.
