We sincerely hope you're reading at this out of curiosity! If you're here because
you've lost your TroopManager Plus data or are otherwise concerned about the software,
follow these steps.
- Don't hesitate to contact Forevergreen Software Company technical
support. Send e-mail to FSC@tds.net. We'll be happy to
help. Technical support is FREE.
- Relax, and take a deep breath. Don't try to do ANYTHING if you're in a
panic. You need a cool head to get through this.
- If possible, get a fresh diskette and make a backup copy of your
TROOP.MDB database file. Click here for details. IMPORTANT: Do not use an existing backup
diskette. If your database is corrupt you don't want to copy a bad file on top of
your good backup copy. If you can find TROOP but not TROOP.MDB, click here. If your computer is completely crashed or someone
deleted your TroopMgr directory, skip this step.
- Select one of the following:
A) It appears that TroopManager Plus and/or BadgeManager Plus are installed and working.
The problem appears to be your DATA and not the software program itself.
B) TroopManager Plus or BadgeManager Plus itself will not start. This will be the case
with a replacement computer or if your TroopMgr file directory has been accidentally
deleted.
A) Only the Troop Database is Missing or Corrupt
Follow these steps if you think that TroopManager Plus and BadgeManager Plus are
probably working OK and it's just your Troop.mdb database file that is bad.
- Locate what you consider to be the most likely good backup copy of your TROOP.MDB
database file. Copy the file from the diskette (or other storage media) to the directory
where you installed TroopManager Plus. Usually this directory is named C:\TroopMgr
but it can be different if you installed it elsewhere.
- Run TroopManager Plus and verify that the data is as you expect it to be. Select File-Verify
Data Integrity to make sure that the data is intact.
- If any error messages are displayed, or if you are otherwise concerned about your data,
send a copy of your C:\TroopMgr.log file (and C:\BadgeMgr.log if
you have one) to FSC@tds.net. We'll examine the log file
and let you know what we find. Click here for more information
about log files.
B) The entire product must be re-installed
Follow these steps if you need to re-install BadgeManager Plus and/or TroopManager
Plus.
- Do you have the installation programs? If not, download them
from our web site.
- Start with TroopManager Plus. Install the software, then run it. TroopManager Plus will
not delete, over-write or otherwise mess with your TROOP.MDB database
file. If it cannot find the file it will offer to create it for you. If you have a backup
copy of TROOP.MDB, we'll install it in a moment. If you don't have a backup, allow
TroopManager Plus to create the file for you. You might be pleasantly surprised to
find all your data suddenly available. Sometimes re-installing the program is all it
takes.
- Run TroopManager Plus. Hopefully your backup is good and all is as you expect it to be.
Click around TroopManager Plus and verify that scout, adult and other records appear
correct. Select File-Verify Data Integrity to make sure that the data is intact.
If you don't like what you see, repeat step #3 with your other backup copies until you
find one that works.
- Only if your troop database has been recovered: download and install BadgeManager Plus
if desired. BadgeManager Plus depends on TROOP.MDB, so there's no reason to try anything
with BadgeManager Plus unless and until you get TroopManager Plus back up and running.
Something is still wrong?
Don't hesitate to contact us! You can send your TROOP.MDB file to us via an e-mail
attachment and we'll fix it if we can. Sometimes we can, sometimes we can't; but we'll try
our best to get you back up and running.
