The main screen in BadgeManager Plus is illustrated below. Click on a screen element to
learn more about it. (Does BadgeManager Plus appear to be missing some or all of your
scouts? See the end of this page for details.)

Your Troop / Badge Master (Tab)
Clicking this tab switches between listing the badges in your troop and
listing the badges in the master badge database.
Important Note: The information in the Badge Master tab
comes from a separate database that's part of BadgeManager Plus. The information in the Your
Troop comes from your TroopManager Plus database for the selected troop and
program level.
This list filters the selected badge list by category, to cut down on the
number of badges that you have to scroll around. If you are an existing
TroopManager Plus user your badges will not be categorized. Also, you will not see a
badge group until you've copied at least one badge from the master list in that group.

You can enter new groups if you'd like. You can also change the
names of the existing groups. Use the Edit Badge
Groups menu choice.

Badges (Checkbox List)
This list is controlled by no less than FOUR controls:
Your Troop versus Badge Master tab
Selected badge group
Selected troop (if on the Your Troop tab)
Selected program level
Select All / Clear All / Delete (Buttons)
The Select All and Clear All buttons set or
clear all of the check boxes in the badge list.
The Delete button permanently removes all
checked badges from the selected database. This includes all activities for the badge(s),
as well as any and all scout-related information, like badge completion dates and so on.
You are asked to confirm that you really want to do this.
When would you want to DELETE a badge? Several reasons:
A list of activities is presented for the selected badge. An asterisk
indicates that the activity is required. Activity groups and other badge configuration
elements also contribute to requirements. See Editing
Badges for details. [Return to Top]
These option buttons control what you see in the box at the top of the
screen: requirements for the selected badge OR a list of scouts that already have
the badge. [Return to Top]
The requirements for the selected badge are displayed. Note that if you
have entered badges via TroopManager Plus the requirements text will be blank. You can
edit the requirements text via the Edit Badge and Activities command button. [Return to Top]
This list comes from the troops defined in your TroopManager Plus
database. Your selection controls the list of badges displayed when the Your Troop
tab is selected. [Return to Top]
This list controls which badges are displayed in both the Your
Troop and Badge Master tabs. While there are always badges
displayed for every program level in the master tab, it's possible (likely, actually) that
your troops will come up empty for most of the program levels. A message to this effect
will be displayed.

View Scout Summary (Button)
Use this screen to get a quick look at what your scouts are doing:
completed badges, badges in-progress and badges not yet started. This screen is read-only
so it's safe to allow your scouts to plink around. See also: Scout
Mode, which puts all of BadgeManager Plus in a safe, read-only mode. [Return to Top]
Use this screen to record badge and activity progress when the entire
troop (or, most of it anyway!) has worked together. [Return to Top]
Use this screen to record badge and activity progress for a single scout
at a time. [Return to Top]
Award or Present Badges (Button)
Use this screen to mark badges as being presented/awarded to scouts. This
screen contains a handy Badge Shopping List so you know what to purchase at the council
store. [Return to Top]
Edit Badge and Activities (Button)
Use this screen to make changes to a badge and activities. You can add a
new badge via the Edit menu choice. [Return to Top]
The menu across the top of the screen provides access to many of the
features listed above. The menu is also the only place that some less
frequently used features can be accessed. Make a point of looking at the menu choices
occasionally, you might come across something useful.

Missing Some (or ALL) of Your Scouts?
TroopManager Plus does not filter scouts by program level, so you're probably
accustomed to seeing all of your scout names all of the time. BadgeManager Plus needs to
limit you to looking at one program level at a time because badges are different for each
level.
For example, if you have a troop with eight Juniors and two Brownies, you will see only
the two Brownies if BadgeManager is set to the Brownie program level.
Also, keep in mind that inactive scouts can be filtered out of all
lists, so it's possible that the missing scouts have been marked as inactive. See the Preferences screen for details.
